My top 10 favourite songs of all time

Hellooo everyone! I’ve been wanting to kick-start a blog for some time now (not that I’m very interesting at all) but as something to keep me busy as I no longer go to college. I’m no writing whiz, fashion icon or music know-it-all and I’ll never claim to be but I find reading peoples blog posts verrrry interesting and I hope you lot will enjoy reading mine (when I actually have more than 1). I’m going write my first post about my top 10 favourite songs of all time and why, its going to be so hard to write a list that small when music has been such a huge part of my life so far, but here it goesss.. also, they are in no particular order, if you can name your favourite song of ALL time then I am very impressed, as it is 100% completely impossible for me to do..

  1. The Last Shadow Puppets – The age of the understatement

I remember about 9 years ago (i think i must have been like 8) this song playing on the TV in my house, the video was what I remember the most, Miles and Alex walking with tanks and some girl ice skating.. I didn’t actually realise it was The Puppets until I got into them in 2014, it was my brother who listened to that song on TV and it just always stuck with me. It’s SUCH a tune and it’ll never get old.

  2. Bad Manners – Special Brew

This is one of those tunes that is completely bonkers but amazing at the same time, my dad randomly bought a big red van for his job at the time and we used to always go random places in the van when my mum was at work, anyway.. he had a mint cd in there that he had either made himself or someone else had, I always call it the ‘red van cd’ and I would do anything to get it back and make a copy, this was one of the 5 songs I remember on it and I lavv it, it will always remind me of that time of my life where I would sit on the floor in front of my brother & sister in front of the van because there were only 2 seats (completely illegal but necessary). Anyway this song just reminds me of happy times and will always be up there in my list of favourites.

  3. The Libertines – Music when the lights go out

I only got familiar with The Libertines in 2014 around the time of their reunion, I didn’t know them very well and my friend was completely mad about them, she asked me if I wanted to go to London to Hyde Park to see them and I was sold just at the idea of just going to London as I’d never been before. Anyway every time I listen to this song it makes me mega emotional, I’ve been lucky enough to see it live like 4/5 times which has been amazing!! It may be super cliché naming this as one of your favourite Libertines songs, but it’s one of those songs that makes you feel like crying and smiling at the same time (weird innit) Thank you Amber for introducing me to the Libs !! mint band.

  4. The Rolling Stones – Cant you hear me knocking
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fa4HUiFJ6c

The Rolling Stones have countless tunes, all of which are iconic and bang pretty hard. But this one is especially good, it reminds me of dancing around Bens uni room in Manchester with a few other friends after seeing Tame Impala, it was such a good night and it’s just one of those songs that will be in my top 10 fav songs ever.  Thank you stones for creating so many bangers xxx

5. Depeche Mode – Enjoy the silence

I have a pretty strong love for Depeche mode and plenty of other 80’s music as I grew up listenin to a lot of 80’s being played around the house and in the car, I personally think that it was the era for the best song intros of all time, this is one song in particular that I love a LOT!! Depeche mode have so many amazing songs, a close second favourite would have to be blasphemous rumours, what a banger..
My dad always plays this in the car because it reminds him of when he was younger driving to see my mum after work in the dark in Germany somewhere, which is pretty cute 😦

Anyway, its a proper euphoric song and it will continue to be played in my house for a verrrry long time.

6. The Cure – The Kiss

If you know me you will know that The Cure are one of my favourite bands of ALL time, Its particularly hard to pick a favourite song, but my favourite album is ‘kiss me kiss me kiss me’ The song ‘the kiss’ is particularly aggressive but one of my favourites on the album.. I was lucky enough recently to see them live (one of my dreams) and they were pretty fookin amazing!! a year or two ago I went to visit my family in Germany, going record shopping with my music crazed uncle was one of the highlights, I got a few records that day but two of my favourites were The Cure – Kiss me kiss me kiss me and The Horrors – Luminous. Two mint albums.

7. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – The River

King gizzard are absolutely  killing it at the minute, being one of my favourite bands the last few years it was inevitable that they were going to have an appearance in this list.. Even their name shows how awesome they are, are a band called king gizzard and the lizard wizard going to be shit? I think not. Anyway, if you haven’t seen em live I would jump on their website and buy tickets to see them live, without a doubt THE best band I have ever seen, The river is a ten min ten seconds song on their album ‘Quarters’ and its fooooookin insane.

8. Tears for Fears – Head over heels

It’s pretty standard including a song from a film with an AMAZING soundtrack, even though it includes echo and the bunny men and joy division, this song is particularly sick in the film and it works so well with the scene (link above). Tears for fears have so many bangers but I’d have to say this is the best, probably like 100% of people reading this have seen Donnie Darko but if not, you should watch it, it doesn’t make much sense the first few times in my opinion (maybe I’m just stupid I don’t know) but it has become one of my fav films, mainly due to the soundtrack.

9. A flock of seagulls – i ran

Another tune birthed in the 80’s. I don’t really know what to put other than its a great song as it doesn’t really have any emotional connection or sparks any memories in my head, it’s just one of those songs.

10. Kings of leon – closer

Literally one of THE most hypnotising songs I have ever heard. My brother used to always listen to KOL when I was younger and my taste in music always was influenced by his. I remember listening to kol  and arctic monkeys A LOT when I was a kid, then I got into Nicky minaj and Rihanna for a while, completely abandoning my old taste, I have no regrets starships bangs SO hard.
I started listenin to them a lot more in 2013/14 a long side Arctic monkeys and rekindled my love for them. I then realised how amazing they are and how insane this song is.
*best listened to full blast with earphones in.

Thank you for reading
